DermaRite StingFree is an alcohol-free liquid skin prep and protectant that forms a quick-drying, transparent film between the skin and contaminants, giving no-sting protection for up to 72 hours. The current formulation dries faster and protects better than the one before it. It comes in two styles: pads and a spray bottle.
The film protects periwound skin (the skin around a wound) from excess moisture from wound drainage, tube drainage or incontinence, and helps prevent maceration, the softening and breakdown of skin kept wet too long. It helps keep adhesives from stripping the skin when tape or a dressing comes off, decreases friction damage over bony prominences, and adds an extra barrier over intact skin in fragile areas such as Stage 1 pressure ulcers, suspected deep tissue injury and blood blisters. It will not clog incontinence briefs or absorbent pads, and it is not made with natural rubber latex.
