A&D Medical UltraConnect Premium Deluxe Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor

A&D Medical UltraConnect Premium Deluxe Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor

PRODUCT DETAILS

The A&D Medical UltraConnect Premium Deluxe is a Bluetooth wrist blood pressure monitor (BPM) that measures systolic and diastolic pressure and pulse at the wrist, then transfers readings wirelessly to the A&D Heart Track app. A body movement sensor prompts the user to stay still, a cuff fit alert appears during measurement if the cuff is attached loosely, and an irregular heartbeat indicator flags an irregular rhythm in a reading. It is clinically validated for accuracy, carries a 5 year warranty, and is compact enough to travel. Sold as a single monitor with its wrist cuff, which fits wrists 5.3 to 8.5 in (13.4 to 22 cm).

Reading the Numbers

Each reading gives two numbers in millimeters of mercury (mmHg). The top number is the systolic pressure, the pressure in the arteries when the heart beats; the bottom number is the diastolic pressure, when the heart rests between beats. This BPM reads pressures from 0 to 299 mmHg and pulse from 40 to 180 beats per minute.

Wrist Monitors and Positioning

Upper arm cuff monitors are usually the more reliable choice, and the American Heart Association recommends them when available. A wrist BPM is an appropriate choice when an upper arm cuff does not fit well or would be unsafe or painful to use. Accuracy depends on position: keep the wrist at the level of the heart during the reading, because a wrong position gives a wrong reading.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Clinically validated for accuracy in a clinical test to ISO 81060-2
  • 5 year warranty
  • Indicates an irregular heartbeat (IHB) during a measurement
  • Body movement sensor guides the user to remain still during measurement
  • Cuff fit alert: an icon appears during measurement when the cuff is attached loosely, alerting the user to refit it and measure again
  • Up to 5 users plus a guest, but each user must have a mobile device paired with the monitor, and data is not stored in visitor mode
  • Stores 100 measurements in monitor memory, plus unlimited readings in the A&D Heart Track app, with simple graphs and sharing
  • Readings can be taken without the phone; to transfer them, open the companion app and select Upload Measurement, as the manual for this model describes. A&D's US datasheet names the app A&D Heart Track, and the manual for this model names it A&D Connect
  • Wireless Bluetooth 4.1 Low Energy to a supported phone or tablet
  • Rechargeable Li-ion battery rated for about 100 measurements per charge, with the included USB charging cable
  • Compact all-in-one design suitable for travel

When Not to Use It

  • If you have had a mastectomy, consult a doctor before using the monitor.
  • If you have a very weak or irregular heartbeat, the device may have difficulty determining your blood pressure.
  • If your wrist has poor or restricted circulation, consult a doctor before using the monitor.
  • Do not apply the cuff on a wrist with an unhealed wound, or on a wrist receiving an IV (drip) or a blood transfusion.
  • Do not let children use the monitor by themselves, and do not use it in a place within the reach of infants.
  • Do not use the monitor where there are high oxygen concentrations, such as in an oxygen tent or a high-pressure oxygen chamber (fire or explosion risk).
  • The device and cuff are not water resistant; keep them away from rain, sweat and water.
  • The monitor is not guaranteed to connect to all Bluetooth compatible devices.

Using and Caring for It

  • Place the center of the cuff at the same height as your heart, and remain still and quiet during the measurement.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is a blood pressure monitor?

A blood pressure monitor is a device that measures the force of blood against artery walls, providing systolic and diastolic readings to assess heart health.

Are blood pressure monitors accurate?

Yes, most blood pressure monitors are highly accurate when used correctly. For the most reliable results, choose a clinically validated device and follow proper measurement techniques.

How often should I check my blood pressure?

If you have high blood pressure or heart conditions, it is recommended to check your blood pressure daily or as advised by your healthcare provider. For general health tracking, weekly or monthly monitoring may be sufficient.

Can stress affect blood pressure readings?

Yes, stress can cause temporary spikes in blood pressure. It is advisable to measure your blood pressure in a calm and relaxed state for more accurate readings.

What is the best position for taking blood pressure?

The best position for accurate blood pressure readings is sitting with your back supported, feet flat on the ground, and your arm resting at heart level. Avoid talking or moving during the measurement.

How to use a blood pressure monitor?

Follow these steps to measure blood pressure accurately:

  1. Rest for at least 5 minutes before taking a reading.
  2. Place the cuff snugly around your upper arm or wrist, depending on the device type.
  3. Ensure you are seated comfortably with your arm supported at heart level.
  4. Press the start button and remain still while the monitor inflates and deflates.
  5. Record the reading and compare it with recommended blood pressure ranges.
