Coloplast Biatain Alginate Ag Dressing

PRODUCT DETAILS

Coloplast Biatain Alginate Ag is a highly absorbent silver alginate wound dressing designed for moderately to heavily exuding infected wounds. Fast-gelling alginate is combined with an ionic silver complex that provides a broad antimicrobial profile, helping manage exudate while reducing the risk of leakage and maceration. The alginate's documented haemostatic effect can assist in controlling minor bleeding in superficial wounds, and the dressing can be used under compression bandages. It is available in three square dressing sizes for open wounds and a rope for filling cavities.

A: Clean the wound, cut the dressing to fit, apply it over the wound, and secure it with a secondary dressing as needed.

Q: What are the side effects of alginate dressings?

A: Side effects are rare but may include mild irritation or sensitivity reactions in some individuals.

Q: When should alginate dressings be used?

A: They are best suited for wounds with moderate to heavy drainage, including ulcers, burns, and surgical wounds.

Q: How often should alginate dressings be changed?

A: Dressing changes depend on the level of exudate but typically occur every 1–3 days.
