Cardinal Health Reinforced Gelling Fiber +Ag dressings are sterile, reinforced non-woven calcium alginate dressings for the management of moderate to heavy exuding wounds, with an ionic silver complex (silver sodium hydrogen zirconium phosphate) that releases silver ions in the presence of wound fluid. The silver ions protect the dressing from a broad spectrum of microorganisms over a period of up to fourteen days, based on in-vitro testing. As wound fluid is absorbed, the alginate forms a gel that assists in maintaining a moist environment for optimal wound healing, while the highly absorbent gelling fibers wick and retain exudate away from the wound bed. The cohesive fiber construction facilitates easy intact, one-piece atraumatic removal, and odor reduction results from the antibacterial effect in the dressing.

Contraindications

Do not use on dry eschar or third-degree burns, for direct application on dry or lightly exuding wounds, to control heavy bleeding, or in individuals with a known sensitivity to alginates and/or silver.
