3M Tegaderm IV Transparent Film Dressings with Border
PRODUCT DETAILS
The 3M Tegaderm IV transparent film dressings with border are sterile, single-use site dressings for I.V. catheter sites. The transparent film keeps the insertion site visible, so it can be inspected and monitored without removing the dressing, and the soft fabric border with a hypoallergenic, latex-free adhesive stabilizes the catheter and minimizes movement. The line is available in four sizes.
Key Features and Benefits
- Transparent film allows monitoring of the I.V. site without the need to remove the dressing.
- Soft fabric border stabilizes the catheter, minimizing catheter movement.
- Hypoallergenic adhesive that is not made with natural rubber latex, supporting up to 7-day wear time and full site visibility to minimize unnecessary dressing changes.
- Waterproof, sterile barrier to external contaminants, including liquids, bacteria and viruses — in vitro testing shows the film provides a viral barrier from viruses 27 nm in diameter or larger while the dressing remains intact without leakage.
- Picture-frame delivery makes placement accurate and easy, minimizing the potential to stick to gloves or to itself.

Where It Is Used
Intended to cover and protect I.V. catheter sites, including:
- Central venous catheters, including subclavian, jugular, femoral and PICC lines
- Short peripheral and midline venous catheters
- Dialysis catheters
- Hickman and Broviac catheters
- Arterial catheters
- Epidural catheters
- Enteral feeding tubes
Using the Dressing
Apply the dressing to clean, dry skin that is free of soap residue and lotion. Stop any bleeding at the site before applying it, and do not stretch the dressing during application, because tension can cause skin trauma.
The dressing should not be re-sterilized by gamma, E-beam or steam methods. It may be used on an infected site only when under the care of a health care professional, and it is not a replacement for sutures or other primary wound closure methods.
