This specialty applicator is tipped with calcium alginate fiber, an organic material derived from seaweed and carded in Puritan’s facility to assure conformance with medical device specifications. It is bonded securely to a semi-flexible polystyrene handle by an aqueous based adhesive.

Calcium alginate tip contains no fatty acids, which may be inhibitory to many strains of bacteria.
