How to Use the Elvie Curve Manual Breast Pump
The Elvie Curve is designed for hands-free, in-bra suction collection and should always be cleaned, dried, and fully assembled before use. Follow these steps for safe and effective milk expression:
1. Assemble and Position
Place the silicone Pouch into the Frame and make sure it sits securely. Position your nipple in the center of the Nipple Hole so it feels comfortable and not pressed against the inside of the Pouch.
2. Create Suction
Press the Pouch to activate natural suction. If the suction feels too strong, gently press the Valve to release pressure until comfortable. Ensure the nipple remains centered.
3. Secure in Your Bra
Pull your nursing bra over the pump and make sure it fits snugly with no gaps. This helps maintain suction and prevents shifting during use.
4. Maintain Suction During Letdown
If suction drops, press the Pouch again—even through your bra—to restore continuous expression. Monitor milk volume to avoid overfilling.
5. Ending Your Session
Press the Valve to release suction, then gently break the seal by sliding a finger between your breast and the pump. Lay the pump face-down to avoid spills, then carefully pour collected milk through the Nipple Hole. The Elvie Curve is not intended for milk storage.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Can the Elvie Curve replace an electric pump?
No. It is designed to catch let-down and collect milk passively, not to fully express milk like an electric pump.
Is it completely hands-free?
Yes. Once positioned inside your bra, it stays in place without needing to be held.
Can I use it while nursing or pumping?
Yes. It’s ideal for collecting milk on one side while breastfeeding or pumping on the other.
How do I adjust suction?
Press the silicone pouch for stronger suction, and use the valve to release or reduce pressure.
Is it quiet?
Yes. There are no motors or batteries, making it fully silent and discreet.
Is it dishwasher safe?
Yes. It includes only two washable parts and can be cleaned by hand or in the dishwasher.
Can I sleep while wearing it?
No. Movement while sleeping can break the seal and cause leaks.
Does it spill easily after removal?
It is designed to sit flat on its front to prevent tipping, but milk should be transferred to storage promptly.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: How often should I use a breast pump?
A: It depends on your needs. Many mothers pump every 2-3 hours to maintain supply, while others pump less frequently depending on feeding schedules.
Q: Which breast pumps are the best?
A: The best breast pump varies based on personal needs. Electric pumps offer speed, manual pumps are portable, and hospital-grade pumps provide the strongest suction.
Q: Do breast pumps expire?
A: While breast pumps do not have an official expiration date, their motors and parts can wear out over time. It’s recommended to replace parts as needed.
Q: How do I clean and maintain my breast pump?
A: Always clean and sterilize pump parts after each use to prevent contamination. Follow manufacturer guidelines for safe maintenance.
Q: Are breast pumps covered by insurance?
A: While some insurance providers may cover breast pumps, Medicinal Supplies does not process insurance claims. Customers should check with their provider and submit necessary documents for reimbursement on their own.
Q: Can I reuse a breast pump for multiple babies?
A: Yes, but only if it’s a closed-system pump. Open-system pumps may harbor bacteria and should not be shared.
