Medihoney Wound and Burn Gel Dressing with Active Leptospermum Manuka Honey

PRODUCT DETAILS

MediHoney®, with Active Leptospermum Manuka Honey (ALH), is the global leading medical-grade honey-based product line for the management of wounds and burns. As the most studied variety of medical-grade honey, with over 200 pieces of clinical evidence, these products have become a first-line choice among many clinicians to help in the management of acute, chronic, and stalled wounds and burns to assist in safe and effective removal of necrotic, non-viable tissue.

Features and Benefits

  • Delivery Excellence: Going beyond their medical-grade composition, MEDIHONEY® dressings ensure precise delivery right at the wound site.
  • Enhanced Contact: Free from latex, this material adheres securely upon application, fostering improved contact between the solution and the wound, even when the tissue is expelling fluids and body heat.
  • Facilitating Healing and Application: This advancement significantly contributes to the healing process, reducing the need for frequent reapplication. It presents a viable alternative to conventional gel and paste formulas, especially for challenging-to-reach wounds.
  • Creating the Perfect Healing Atmosphere: MEDIHONEY® dressings and formulation establish an ideal environment for healing, maintaining just the right amount of moisture for wounds and burns. They efficiently draw fluids from the skin into the material, helping to maintain optimal pH levels.
  • Aiding Diverse Wound Types: MEDIHONEY® dressings are exceptionally suitable for various wound types, including tunneled and slow-healing wounds, diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, first- and second-degree burns, traumatic injuries, and surgical wounds.

Tips on applying Medihoney Gel

  1. Prepare: Begin by washing your hands thoroughly and donning gloves to maintain a clean and sterile environment. Assess the condition of the wound.

  2. Cleansing the Wound: Use a sterile or saline solution to clean both the wound bed and the surrounding peri-wound skin. Gently pat the area dry using a gauze pad.

  3. Skin Protection: Consider applying a protective barrier cream or ointment. This step helps safeguard the skin's integrity, particularly if it's sensitive or at risk.

  4. Applying MEDIHONEY® Gel: For shallow wounds, extend the dressing up to half an inch beyond the wound's edge., For deeper wounds, loosely pack the dressing to fill the wound's cavity effectively.

  5. Secure with a Secondary Dressing: To ensure the MEDIHONEY® gel stays in place and avoids displacement, apply a secondary dressing on top.
