Ameda Portable One-Hand Manual Breast Pump with HygieniKit Milk Collection
PRODUCT DETAILS
The Ameda HygieniKit Milk Collection System is a sterile breast milk collection kit, ready to open and use, and it is not a single-use device: after cleaning, the collection system can be used again. With the One-Hand manual pump handle assembly it includes, it lets you express and collect breast milk by hand, one breast at a time. Each kit includes a 25 mm (1 in) breast flange, a valve, silicone tubing with a tubing adapter, and a 4 oz (120 mL) bottle. With an electric pump it may be used to single or dual pump, and Ameda's universal design works with most Ameda pumps, including the Platinum, Elite, Joy, and Joy Plus. The optional Flexishield insert compresses the breast while pumping to help trigger milk release, but it is not part of the kit. Sold as one kit.

Hand Pumping With the Kit
To use the kit as a hand pump, unsnap and remove the adapter cap, remove the diaphragm from the upper chamber of the breast flange, and fit the One-Hand handle assembly; the valve stays on the flange. Wash your hands well before pumping. Use fast, light squeezes to start milk flow, then slower, stronger squeezes, and change breasts every 5-7 minutes for a total of 20 to 30 minutes. Pumped by hand, the kit works one breast at a time.
With an Electric Breast Pump
To single pump with an electric pump, remove one tube and close the tubing adapter.
Cleaning and Care
For your health and safety, and for hygienic reasons, the kit is a personal care item: it should never be shared between mothers, or resold or given from one mother to another. Ameda's warranty covers the original user only, so use by more than one person voids it. The breast flanges and bottles may go on the upper rack of a standard household dishwasher away from the heating element. Wash the valve and diaphragm gently by hand, and do not insert anything into the valve while cleaning. The tubing, adapter cap, and tubing adapter are not boiled or washed.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How often should I use a breast pump?
It depends on your needs. Many mothers pump every 2-3 hours to maintain supply, while others pump less frequently depending on feeding schedules.
Which breast pumps are the best?
The best breast pump varies based on personal needs. Electric pumps offer speed, manual pumps are portable, and hospital-grade pumps provide the strongest suction.
Do breast pumps expire?
While breast pumps do not have an official expiration date, their motors and parts can wear out over time. It’s recommended to replace parts as needed.
How do I clean and maintain my breast pump?
Always clean and sterilize pump parts after each use to prevent contamination. Follow manufacturer guidelines for safe maintenance.
Are breast pumps covered by insurance?
While some insurance providers may cover breast pumps, our store does not process insurance claims. Customers should check with their provider and submit necessary documents for reimbursement on their own.
Can I reuse a breast pump for multiple babies?
Yes, but only if it’s a closed-system pump. Open-system pumps may harbor bacteria and should not be shared.
