The Ameda Elite is a hospital-grade electric breast pump: the cord-powered pump unit of the Ameda HygieniKit Milk Collection System, which it drives for pumping one breast or both. It is used at home, and in hospitals and rental stations, where it is cleaned between users. The pump carries integrated holders for the milk bottle and the breast flange. Sold as a single pump; the Ameda HygieniKit Milk Collection System is required and sold separately.

- Closed system: the HygieniKit's patented silicone diaphragm keeps the expressed milk separated from the pump and the tubing, and the solid barrier keeps the tubing dry, so there is no need to clean or replace it.
- Suction is the pulling strength of the pump, measured in mmHg; it is set on the vacuum dial, raised until you reach your maximum comfort level and lowered if it is uncomfortable.
- The cycles dial sets the pumping speed: all the way right triggers the milk ejection reflex (let-down), turned left it helps the breast drain faster, and back right again starts another let-down.
- Cord-powered with a detachable cord.
- The HygieniKit is for one mother: it should never be shared between mothers or resold from one mother to another.
- Warranty: two years on the pump mechanism for the first user; it does not apply to the power cord or to the separately sold HygieniKit.
