3M Steri-Strip Reinforced Adhesive Skin Closures
PRODUCT DETAILS
3M Steri-Strip Reinforced Adhesive Skin Closures are sterile, single-use adhesive strips for the closure of incisions and skin lacerations. The strips are soft and breathable, made of a porous nonwoven rayon backing reinforced with filaments for strength and coated with a hypoallergenic adhesive. They are a low-cost alternative to sutures and tissue adhesives, used in the emergency department, operating room, clinics and same-day surgery centers, including following early suture or staple removal.
Key Features and Benefits
- May be used in conjunction with skin sutures and staples to support the wound.
- Section larger wounds and space strips approximately 1/8 in (3 mm) apart to distribute tension.
- Store at room temperature, away from excessive heat and humidity.
Use Limitations
Do not use on infected wounds, or on high-tension wounds that cannot be easily approximated with fingers or forceps. The strips are contraindicated where adhesion cannot be obtained, including where exudate, skin oils, moisture, or hair are present, so apply them to clean, dry skin that is free of skin oils. Do not apply under tension: skin shearing, blistering, or loss of adhesion may result, and postoperative swelling may cause skin shearing, blistering, or loss of adhesion at either end of a strip. The strips are sterile unless the envelope is damaged or open; do not use if the package is damaged or open. Each strip is for single use only and should not be reused. The product and package do not contain natural rubber latex.
